Aquire the Fire

What an amazing weekend! I love to see how God is working in the lives of the teenagers at EVAC.

On Friday night we (25 teenagers and 5 chaperons) left Erin to go the Copps Coliseum in Hamilton for Aquire the Fire (ATF). It's an interactive multimedia event for teenagers to hear about Jesus. There are speakers, drama, bands, worship, lights and pyrotechnics. It's a high energy event. The theme this year was "Run to the Battle" and the speakers talked about the Battle for our hearts, our minds, our world and our generation. The worship over the weekend was phenominal. The worship leader Michael Gungor help us all connect with God through his innovative and authentic songs throughout the weekend.

This year we had seats on the floor (the tickets were purchased well in advance - way to go Kellen) which was fantastic. We were really close to the stage and it felt like we were right in the middle of everything that was going on.

The teenagers were pumped for the concert on Saturday afternoon featuring Hawk Nelson and Skillet. They had a great time in the Mosh Pit. I, on the other hand was quite happy to just sit back and watch the craziness that was going on all around me.

On Saturday night the final speaker issued 2 important challenges to the teens. The first was for each one of them to reach 7 of their friends with the gospel over the next year. What a great challenge - what would our world look like if each one of us took up that challenge over the next year? To share the love of Christ with 7 of our friends. Just imagine how their lives and our lives would be different? Are you ready to take up that challenge? The second challenge was for both the teenagers and the youth leaders - to double the size of their Youth groups over the next year. At EVAC we've had 50+ teenagers come out to most of our events over the last 2 months. We are having trouble finding the space to run events for that many teenagers. It's a great problem to have - it means that God is doing some amazing things in Erin. But think, next year we could have 100+ teenagers coming out regularly on Friday nights to our Youth Events. Wouldn't that be awesome!

What a great two days. I had the chance to spend more time with some of the teenage girls. They are really awesome young people with such a heart for Jesus and so many special talents.
I pray that God continues to work in their hearts and draws them closer to Him.

God is so GOOD!
